| Rolling
Admission
A "rolling admissions" policy governs at Al-Qasim University programs.
That is, the university will accept applications and announce admissions
continually throughout the years.
Admission Standards
Al-Qasim University offers both undergraduate and graduate-level
degree programs to applicants who qualify in accordance with published
admissions standards. An attitude of openness and a propensity for
engaging in inquiry are expected of the applicants.
Sources of Credit
College credits are the building blocks for your degree. We would
like to inform you to the wide variety of methods for accumulating
the credits you need , as quickly as possible towards your degree
program.
Credit By Transfer
Transcripts are official academic records documenting your course
work and cumulative GPA. You will be asked to supply transcripts
from all previous colleges and universities when applying to any
new university. The credits acceptance always depends upon on the
receiving end university. Normally the credits earned from Regional
Accredited Institutions are acceptable world wide. AQU will accept
the credits earned from any reputable institution. The worlds has
changed too much, it depends upon the subject, but usually credit
earned much more than ten years ago will be problematic, particularly
if they are in your major.
Credit By Equivalency Exam.
The fastest way to earn a college degree is through the successful
passing of equivalency exam. Without taking a single class, with
out spending an hour in a classroom, you can receive credit for
what you already know. Earning credit by equivalency exams can save
you incredible amount of time and money.
Credit From Life Experience
Each year you grow older you accumulate life experience. The experience
in and of itself is not what earns credit. It is demonstrating that
those experiences have produced in you knowledge that is relevant
to a particular college subject. The following nine areas of life
experience are typically cited by the experts
1. Work : Probably the most likely to produce credit. Typing,
computer work, accounting, management, advertising, equipment, skills,
sales, inventory control etc
2. Homemaking: Home maintenance , meal planning, child rearing,
interpersonal relationships, marriage and family, cooking nutrition
etc.
3. Volunteer Work: Community service, church work, political
activities, hospital work, etc.
4. Non Credit Courses : Company workshops, corporate seminars,
teacher training, conferences, conventions, workshops, etc.
5. Travel: Significant travel abroad whether for business
or pleasure, business trips, studying other cultures.
6. Recreational Hobbies: Sports, gardening, public speaking
attending plays visiting art museums, playing ,musical instrument,
acting in play, etc
7. Independent Study: Reading, interviews, watching PBS television
programs, any field of personal interest where extensive research
has been undertaken.
8. Exposure to Experts: Through personal interviews, discussions,
training under someone as an apprentice, personal tutelage or
mentoring , etc.
9. Military Experience: Specialized training is offered in numerous
technical fields from aviation, to radar, to accounting, to equipment
maintenance. Travel abroad and significant exposure to other cultures
would not be uncommon. To earn credit for the knowledge you have
gained from various life experiences, you must prepare a narrative
presentation called portfolio. The admission committee will evaluate
your portfolio and assign credits.
Transfer Credit Policy
Credits earned in another institutions may be considered for transfer
credit as follows:
(1) Forward official copies of transcripts to be evaluated to the
Admissions Office.
(2) Submit a copy of catalog descriptions of all coursework to be
evaluated.
(3) Only those courses which are substantially comparable to AQU
courses with "C" (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or higher grade will be accepted.
(4) More exemption or transfer of credits can be claimed on the
basis of vast, valuable and relevant experience subject to qualify
the equivalency exam for the degree program.
ADMISSION PROCEDURES
Admission Standards
Al-Qasim University offers both undergraduate and graduate-level
degree programs to applicants who qualify in accordance with published
admissions standards.
Admission Process
Admission to Al-Qasim University is based on evidence of a student's
ability to benefit from its educational program. Such evidence may
include any or all of the following: student's academic record in
other institutions, professional experience, motivation and educational
objectives
The office of the Registrar receives and processes all applications
and evaluates them for completeness.
(1) Application for Admission form;
(2) Application fee (non-refundable);
(3) Official transcripts from colleges or universities attended
(or arrange to have sent from all schools attended).
Students who have attended or graduated from a foreign college or
university must provide an official transcript that has been translated
into English. The transcript must indicate achievement of baccalaureate
degree, if appropriate. After a thorough review of documents submitted
by the applicants, the Registrar will forward the application packet
to the Director of Admissions.
After determination that the required application materials are
complete, the Director of Admissions receives the applicant's file.
At a meeting of the Admissions Committee, the application is reviewed.
The Committee recommendation regarding disposition of the applicant
is forwarded to the Registrar, who informs the applicant of the
decision.
Admissions Committee
The Admissions Committee comprises the Director of Admissions,
a member of the Administration and a member of the Faculty. Upon
review of an applicant's documents, one of three alternative actions
will be recommended:
(a) Admission, (b) Provisional Admission, or (c) Denial of Admission.
The applicant will be notified in writing of the Committee's decision
within 10 working days of Committee action.
Provisional Admission
Notification of the applicant is accompanied by recommendations
from the Committee regarding appropriate methods for eliminating
areas of deficiency discovered in the review.
Denial of Admission and
Appeal
A denial of admission is usually final. An applicant who does
not accept the decision of denial by the Admissions Committee may
ask for reconsideration. This request should be accompanied by further
evidence of academic potential. An example of an applicant deserving
further consideration could be one with an undistinguished undergraduate
record who then writes and passes a comprehensive, standardized
test in the appropriate field. If the scores demonstrate graduate-level
ability, such documentation would support reconsideration.
Continuous Enrollment
Enrollment is continuous. Students need not wait for a new semester
to begin the program.
Faculty Advisors
Students are advised and counseled by on-site faculty and are
individually guided through independent study by direct contact
with faculty members by on-site conferences, by fax or e-mail.
Student Record
A file is maintained in the Office of the Registrar for each
student and contains information pertaining to application curriculum,
finances and transcripts.
